311 - Misdirected Hostility Lyrics
Not I'm not the type to just act like I know
Puttin on an angle putting on ashow
Speaking on nothing makes you a stunt
I'll tell you right here yo I don't front I cross the t's and skip nonlegitimacies
Or else please I cannont handleall the negative vibe merchants
So muchangst and pain it's so wack
You should take a tip from the one Frank
Black Playsome pachinko play some parcheesi
Cause all the angst shit is just cheesy
It's the 311 bliss too smooth for pissed
Lyrics talkin loud again
Yeah we are theparty men
Cosmetics that you fretted
We sport the high asthetic H
ere go rapkickin the dazzled crazy mathematic
Party's in the crates I scan step into the realm
What you gonna do
Give the party people something funky to listen to
Misdirected hostility, that's what you got see
Misdirected hostility, that's what you got see
Misdirected hostility, that's what you got see
Misdirected hostility, that'swhat you got
Bodyrock pop and lock here's an example
Boulevard chrome beatsalways ampin' your temple
Punks get got in the age of hip hop
It's just begunlike stolen bikes on the blacktop
Born to sing a lyric immaculately concepted
Nostrain in your game if your game is respected
Come as you are radio star
Drownout the hatred with a rhyme
An electric guitar
Dispatched when rap shattered theglass of radio access
May we turn some soul on their rythmless dances
You knowthe time and they'l know the scoop
They'l say it was a rhyme and a beat of a rapgroup
Your rhymes have been outmoded
Your rhymes have been outmoded
Your rhymeshave been outmoded
Your rhymes have been outmoded
Your rhymes have beenoutmoded
So just quityourbellyachin'
You're saying that your tortured
Give me afuckin break and
Maybe take out the source
Of your disparing what do I mean
Kickthe fuckin' heroin I speak from experience
Because I didn't see clearly once
Acting like I dunce In 1989 I was cocaine and Jim Beam
But now it's 95 and I'mginseng
Misdirected hostility, that's what you got see
Misdirected hostility, that's what you got see
Misdirected hostility, that's what you got see
Misdirected hostility, that's what you got

I've always wondered if this is a Rage Against the Machine dis song
mycho james I think it's about Phunk Junkeez
I'd been trying to figure it out for quite some time and just recently figured out what/who they were talking about in this song. I've been listening to this song since the album first came out back in 1995 when I was just 9 years old and I still love this song (I'm 31 now.) Anyhow, for the longest time I just loved the song because the badass guitar intro and the heavy guitar riff during the verse, combined, of course, with the slick-ass rhymes even if I could never tell exactly what they were saying in most of the song. But once I got older and started examining the lyrics, I started to wonder who they were talking about. I thought at first they may have been talking about any number of the grunge bands of the time--Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, STP, etc.--because they told whomever they're talking about to try "kicking fucking heroin," and talked about how all their lyrics are negative and full of despair and "complaining" or "bellyachin'." But I didn't think that made sense because, whomever they were "dissing," they were dissing their raps and rhyme and form of hip-hop and so on, and, of course, Nirvana, AIC, etc. have nothing to do with hip-hop. So I looked it up and, like Joshua Bell stated in his reply, I heard it was about the Phunk Junkeez. In fact, if you go to Wikipedia and look up this album, it specifically says that Misdirected Hostility was "written in reference to the violence between the Phunk Junkeez and their back-up vocalist K-Tel Disco."
1:45 yeeah!
For ever memories rippin' on the slope stylie...
This and T & P Combo are the best songs on the album.
The angry Mario sun! Lol that's great
best part about that line was the nod to frank black
Fuckin love this track!
Good song.
Play some jenga play some parcheesy
Greg Todakonzie
play some funky music
lyrics read like a message for the grunge 'negative vibe merchants' at the time, who where borrowing their sound from Frank Black and the Pixies and adding angst.
I was worried about that at first, because I'm a huge grunge fan and love bands like Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, STP, etc. way more than I like 311, but I always loved this song. Anyways, I looked it up just to be sure, and apparently it was written about the rap/rock group Phunk Junkeez. It even says a little about it on the Wikipedia page for the 311 self-titled album: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/311_(album) . Anyways, as I thought a little more about it, it wouldn't have made much sense considering they were dissing the other group's rhymes and their brand of hip-hop and so on, and, obviously, AIC, Nirvana, Soundgarden, etc. have nothing to do with hip-hop or "writing rhymes" and so on. But yeah, when I first got to thinking about it I thought they might have been talking about the grunge bands of the early-to-mid 1990s as well, but I was pleasantly relieved when I found out it was about the "Phunk Junkeez," plus the lyrics wouldn't have made much sense considering they were talking about hip-hop and rhymes and a bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with grunge/rock music.
TOPP NOTCH SONG!!!
