I've heard several songs off this album and it's like the best of music/grassroots plus the best of soundsystem/from chaos sprinkled with the absolute best of transistor, my fave album of theirs. This one could become my new fave though amazing so far...

311 has had albums that, at first, I wasn’t feeling, but after time I’ve grown to love. This isn’t one.

I loved this from the start. In fact, there are so many wicked grooves on this album, I’d recommend it as for anyone who isn’t familiar with them...

My view on 311 has changed. If you listen to the lyrics as if they are your enemy what 311 is really talking about is aomething completely different. Most satanic band on earth. They hate us. We are just food for the psychic vampires that call themselves the illuminati. Listen closley its all about mind control, brainwashing and we are the energy on which they thrive. From the beginning till now. I just recently got it. Hate what they stand for but as usuall this album rocks just like every one they have put out. Before you start slamming me really take some time and really liaten to what they are saying.

It took me a while to dig the whole concept of this album. They change a bit, of course, but who don't? But the true 311 style is still there. The only thing don't change in 311 is the line up. Never change since 1992 braaaaah!!! Viva la ganja!

love this song I have been a 311 fan since 95 or 96 I'm not big on the rest of the album yet maybe it will grow on me

I didn't like it at first but the more I listen the more I realize what is happening and I have to say that it is growing on me. The band has always blended genres and this is just another unexpected turn, but the progressions are genuine and are not simply copies of top 40 tracks. The progression is definitely there and is unlike the top 40 we are so used to hearing. It is definitely not the music of the 90s and the band has never been that genre, as they've always said, but they are a reflection of the present. This album, Mosaic, is that literal blending of postmodern electric sound with rock-and-roll, with reggae progression, and anthem moments. It is hard to get used to but I've found it to be a bit unique and unlike anything I've heard before, even though at first I thought it to be the same as top 40 tracks. After repeated listenings, I do not think it is, and it validates the versatility and longevity that the band continues to have in the 21st century.

This tune is my summer anthem this year. I've been a complete fan since 93 and I was in sixth grade when their album "311 Music" dropped. I love their stuff as I've grown up with them as my favorite band. I've seen them at tiny venues in LA before they got big with the blue album. Some people want their new stuff to sound like the album "Music" and "Grassroots" which in my opinion is their best stuff but that is not going to happen as music and people evolve. The guys aren't teenagers or even in their early twenties stage of life anymore which is the "I'm invincible or IDGAF" stage of mind. What I've enjoyed throughout the years is how they have changed and taken chances while managing to keep their sound. They continue to put out good stuff and also put on awesome shows. 311, 3, 3,11

You can look at 311 with rose colored glasses being a long time fan.........like me I guess. You can sit here and complain about how you dont like this album, but I wholeheartedly disagree with the negative assessments from some people............This is the best effort from these guys in years..............Their hooks are what keep us coming back........we can relate to it.......if some of these songs make you bounce your head, or get goosebumps, then you DEFINITELY GET what they are trying to do here. For the people that think this is shit, I would hate to see what your definition of good music is. Try writing music for 20 something years and trying to come up with something everyone will like universally......its HARD AS HELL to do it.......so just keep it moving if you have something negative to say.........their music exudes positivity, and evokes feelings of unity......Like they set out to do........Good job on this album....this is an excellent effort!

I agree. Fan for a decade and a half. Seen them quite a few times and have multiple albums. Buying any album these days makes you cringe but I support the message and all these guys try to do. Peace love and positivity!

I love seeing the people complaining about this new album, talking "I've been a fan since the mid 90"s and this just isn't good", so have I & thanks for the laugh. Let's see you try writing 13 albums that span over this many years, do the same exact thing every time & see how well that goes over. You'll bore almost everyone and there's no way your band will last cause someone in the band will start hating doing nothing new or creative for years. If you're not open minded enough to see, know, and appreciate that 311 is an evolving thing (always has been) than go kick rocks cause you're not a true fan...just a Music & Grassroots fan. Go find another band that has stayed in tact this long, all while pumping out great music consistently that changes but always has that same feel to it, not to mention the great things they do and put on for their fans! Go find another one...I'll wait.

Agree 100%. I've been listening to them since 1997 in college when someone intro'd me to grassroots and then heard Transistor and was hooked for life.

I promise if you give this album a chance it rivals Soundsystem. There are phenomenal songs on here. Days of 88 just fucking rips it. They have stayed true to their positivity roots since the beginning. What other bands can say that?

then you didnt fucking listen dude. this album has the heaviest music they've put out in a LONG time. nick and pnut even say that in an interview they just uploaded on their channel.

This album is a bit different. The harmony (or chord progressions) that they use in a few of the tunes on this album are a bit more complex than past records. Some of the tunes sound a bit like pop harmony but that is understandable. The chromatic descending bass line is so commonly used in music in general and a ton in pop that it is easily recognizable and familiar. I think that is what you are hearing. That bass line actually stemmed from an old jazz standard but most people don't know that. They did try a bunch of new stuff with this album. "Til' the citi is on fire" is very pop radio with repeating parts happening way too much. The majority of the record is good and incorporates some good stuff.
