This song is selfish and raw. But I think that's why I like it. For me, it's about holding back even and claiming that the other has freedom to live knowing how they both feel even though they wanna be selfish. Yet still in the same token they be wanting to selfishly share things that may possibly hurt the other or play it as a power move sort of (unless the person and the singer are sure there's no chance of anything) but not intentionally, asking the other to listen despite knowing what they want in the end, riding on each other's patience even though it's unfair. But two are doing the tango so it's all so justified. It's like a an endless waltz where they meet to dance but share the experience of their dance with someone else instead of enjoying the dance between each other (even if there's no sex or dating and all, the dance of innocent conversation, no pretensions... Is so much more beautiful but instead he uses that time to talk about people he's sharing his time with rather than using that time he has to grow and care for the relationship they currently have as two growing ppl) but there's a beauty in that itself. It's just like someone masking their fear a leap with an apparent air of maturity that might not be able to be attained just to share an experience they have with all these other people when they want it with the person they're sharing the story with. Is it right or wrong? I don't know. I guess it depends on the intention and on the relationship.
